Android Apps Helps Improve Productivity

An Android smartphone can do anything you want it to, and it’s just as good for everyday tasks like listening to music and playing games as it is for managing your daily schedule and business. With that in mind, here are just a few apps that can help you boost your productivity. Check them out and see what your Android phone is capable of:

Jorte

If you find the default Android Calendar app a bit too simple or old-school (indeed, it looks exactly like the one on Windows Mobile 6!), you should know there are a lot of replacements for it, and Jorte is one of the best. It is a personal organizer app that lets you manage your daily schedule and agenda very easily and effectively. It has a clean, simple look, yet has a lot of advanced features hidden under the hood, should you ever need them.

Astro File Manager

AFM is simply the best file manager for Android. It allows you to browse, edit and open any directories and any kind of files quickly with only a few taps, and it has quite a few settings if you wish to customize how the app looks or how it handles certain files. If you tend to store a lot of files on your phone (and with today’s 16+ GB of memory, most of us do), this is definitely the best app to explore and manage them.

HandyCalc

HandyCalc is one of the best calculator/units converter app out there for Android. Not only can you perform basic and advanced math using your smartphone, but you can also convert measurement units and currency using an online service (always up to date) and create graphs for any purpose, which can speed up your work considerably.

EverNote

If you’re using EverNote on your desktop or if you’re switching from the iPhone, you’ll be happy to know that the award-winning service has its own app for Android, as well! As you may know, EverNote allows you to store text, video, audio, bookmarks and files as notes both on your smartphone and on their online servers, and the Android app accomplishes that without any issues. You can take photos and videos, add some descriptions to them and save them locally or sync them with your online account, without fear of losing any important data or ideas.

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox has long been the best browser on desktops (with the 4th version set on being the best ever), and now it has finally been launched for Android. The mobile version is still a beta, but it works very well and it beats anything else out there (including the great Dolphin HD, which has some pretty annoying bugs in the latest releases). It has support for tabs, Flash, bookmarks, multiple zoom and text adjustment options and much more. The most important features however, are the support for add-ons (many of which are ported from the desktop version) and the new rendering engine, which is faster than any other mobile browser on the market.

Of course, there are a lot more apps available on the market, and with the recent introduction of the Android Market website, it has become much easier to find them, not to mention that you’re no longer locked by country or region for certain apps (like Voice Actions). If you need more apps for any kind of purpose, just open the market app or go to market.android.com and search away!
